and some things to consider

There are many things which make a web site successful and I've put together some things for you to consider when creating a site for you.

Irrespective of whether you want a one page site or a more complex 'e-commerce' one with shopping-cart facilities, the overall ease of use plays a very important role. Visitors to your site must be able to access the information you provide quickly and easily but may also have other reasons to come back - fresh content updated frequently if this is relevant, effective use of colours and images to catch the eye, interactivity .... think of all the things which make you visit a web site.

You have to be very clear what the purpose of your web site is and what you want to accomplish from it. Some reasons why you may want to develop a web presence are:

• Building brand awareness
• Selling products
• Providing information about your organisation, club or perhaps a special personal interest
• Raising awareness of services your organisation or business provides.
• Etc ...

You need to consider that what you and your visitors want to see may be very different. It's very easy to concentrate too much about the visual aspects in pages whereas users may care more about how quickly they can access the information they need.

Site Content and Your Audience

Have a look at other sites on the internet in the same business as you, and get some ideas on how you can present your content in the best possible way - I will never copy a site but the most succesful ones have the right balance of everything required.

Knowing your audience is a key factor in the design. Try to understand what they will be looking for and they will return again.

Think about the people you want to attract to your web site. Are you catering for males or females? - you should consider simple things such as colours, fonts and imagery because these can appeal to men and women in different ways. If part of your site caters for kids, you have to catch their attention with images, colours and a degree of interactivity.

Branding

Using the brand image which has already been created for your business is very important and should be highlighted in your web site. If you don't have a logo at this stage, we can discuss your ideas and I can design one for you.

Search Engine Listings

I'll submit your site to a number of search engines in the UK and worldwide if this is relevant - I can't guarantee that you will always have a high page ranking bacause each one has a different criteria for making this decision but I'll do everything possible to achieve this for you.
